Brainie

WALT:  Solve addition problems by first adding a tidy number and then subtract a small number to compensate.

In this game you have to add or subtract numbers that pops up on the screen. To add the numbers you have to click Two numbers that add up to the number that you have to add. This game was easy for me but I only went up to level 3. This is a fun game to play. http://www.coolmath-games.com/0-brainie/index.html

In this fraction game they will give you a fraction and then you will press the plus button and make the number the same as the Denominator, after you do the denominator you have to do the fraction that is on the board and then it will correct you if you are right or if you are wrong.

Monkey fractions

WALT: Find a fraction of a set.

I have been learning about fractions and how to find a fraction of a set. To make a fraction there always have to be a DENOMINATOR and a NUMERATOR. In this game we have to find the fraction that matches and that equals the fraction that is on the line and then it will correct you or not.

Netball

Netball training 23 July 2014

Today on the 23rd of July 2014 we did netball training at 11:15.  We all took off our jumpers and went into a line outside of our class. We walked to the court and we suddenly saw a woman named Donna. Donna is part of a professional netball team at the Auckland netball. Donna came all the way to Glen Innes School to teach us some netball skills.

First Donna introduced herself to us and she told us to go line up on the yellow line on the side of the court for some warm ups. First we did skipping all the way to the other side of the court then come back, then we did bottom kicks and after that we did some jogging,  side to side jogging and then front kicks. When we finished we all had to come around her so we could  hear what the next activity was going to be.

For the next activity, we had to go into groups of two or three and we played a game called “Friendly and Fire”. Donna taught us the instructions for the game. We had to pass the ball to our partner when she said fire, but if she said  “friendly”,  you have to throw the ball into the air.

After that, we all had to go into 3 lines at the back of the dots. There were 3 dots and the colors of the dots were green, red and blue. Donna placed 1 hula hoop for each teams on the line and she sent someone to go to the back of the hoop so they can catch the ball . The game started and they all got the ball in the hoop and some didn't, like me. When that game finished we placed our hands all together and we said “Room 9 is the best”, then we said bye to Donna and went in a straight line back to class.

Tanes diary

Tane’s Diary

Day 1

I am at hawaii and today I packed up some fruits, water, some spheres and a bag pack to put the stuff into it. I strolled off to the waka with my ten best friends and they all were ready to go. Then my ten friends and I all said’’ goodbye to our wives then we all went off with a little bit of tear in their eye. They all went to the sea and saw the beautiful water and the nice baby blue sky view and then they all rowed away. And while I was rowing I kept on saying bye and waving.

Day 5

I kept rowing and rowing until I saw an island far down the ocean, so I rowed fast as I could and I kept on rowing, then finally I reached the island and I just noticed that Island was Samoa. I looked around Samoa then I meet some samoan people and their names were Telisa, Sina, Lanuola and julia. They went to their dad and said look these people are going to kill us, just because we had our spheres on our hands, the people were just staring at us scared and some people were just playing on our wakas. Their dad said leave our island! with such a loud voice, we got frightened then we just said sorry and run as fast as a cheater. We quickly got into our wakas with a shock, it was like we just killed someone and just went away. So we rowed away with a terrifying face and with the huge big red googly eyes.

Day 7

I still rowed and rowed then I reached another island and that was cook island. When i got to Cook island I meet some people and their names were Tui and Maia. They took us for a look around cook island. We went past a lot of people, and there were a lot of people in the beach. We went to a place with a lot of food and there was a man standing behind a table and that place was a shop. There was heaps of food and their was a person stand at the counter, and that was a shop. We bought something to eat . It was delicious.  We went back to the wakas, and it was time to say goodbye to them. We went into our wakas and we all said goodbye to Tui and Maia and they said bye back to us and they said they hope we don't get into any trouble in the water or in a storm.

Day 12

We rowed in the nice ocean with the nice cold breeze flowing to us and last of all the sun shining on our faces with the water splashing around. Out of nowhere there was a big ship beeping the horn and when it went away I saw a nice green beautiful Island and It was so big, with tall buildings, houses and shops, there were cars and trucks just parked and some were on the road with buses with a lot of people inside, and some just walking on the foot path. I tried to go faster but the wind blew harder, I tried my hardest to push but I couldn't so I just stopped. I was waiting for a while until the wind stopped, I fell asleep because I was bored. When I work up a few minutes later I just noticed that the wind had blew my waka all the way to the island. I knew what the island was called straight away, It was called New Zealand there were a lot of animals, people buildings, cars, trucks, buses and trains, straight away I met some people, they found me a home to live in and they gave me all the directions to all the place’s. A few months and years later I decided to go back to hawaii and go back to my wife, so I said bye to everyone that I knew and went off with a smile.

Swimming

It is cool to dive inside the pool, but please don’t freeze because the instructors will not be pleased, so do the right thing after you get
growling.

So don’t be afraid to swim because swim magic is here to help you win!!! swimming is so fun mostly outside in the sun, you can do freestyle, backstroke and don’t forget to bring the right clothes, before you get in the pool take a shower and don’t be a fool. So learn to swim and then you will win.

How to plant a seed

How to plant a seed                               5 February 2014

To plant a seed, you need to get a little or a big seed or you can get any types of
seeds.

To plant a seed first,  you need a wet cotton and soak the seed in the wet cotton.
Next it is time to prepare the seed in the ground, but first you need a shovel or some
gloves so your hands won’t get dirty, now you can find a spot for you to plant your seed in.

With the shovel you dig a hole, you can dig a big hole or small. When you have digged your hole you put some compost in the hole then put the seed in. When you put the seed in you have to put some soil in the hole too.

In addition,
you need a hose, watering can or a bottle, when you got one of those you put some water in it and sprinkle some water on the plant, and then the a few day later you will see that your seed had grown into a plant.

Screenshot 2014-03-28 at 12.50.30 PM.pngScreenshot 2014-03-28 at 12.44.02 PM.pngGlen Innes school really enjoyed visiting your school seeing all of the year 13 students come and introduce yourselves to us and taking us for a lot of nice sport to learn and to do. We loved it when every time we finish doing all the sports you handed out some nice, fresh and cold ice - blocks and the drinks, we all were happy. We enjoyed the last  trip day to your school. I liked it when we did rob the nest and when we did hockey, because I liked it when I keep whacking the ball. On the first day we came I liked the last sport game we played because I like the person that was teaching us and playing with us, and the person was TK. TK is the best because he is smart, funny and cool. The last day was awesome, and my favourite two parts of the day was when we were swimming and trying to find those sticks, and my second favourite part was when we had to get a sausage sizzle. When we were about to go into the bus I liked it when a student from your school said a speech to tell us goodbye and Vasa from our school said a speech to say thank you, but It was cool when you gave us a ICE - BLOCK !!!
Screenshot 2014-03-28 at 12.40.03 PM.pngWhen it was time to go we walked happily into the bus, but it was so sad, and so we will all miss you guys very very much as we all say THANK YOU VERY VERY MUCH FOR THAT AWESOME FUN DAY!!!!!!!!!!

Sincerely
Sina/Fuimaono

Fizz

Making fizz 25 March 2014

Today we made sherbert, a lollie that fizzes in the mouth.

First we mixed the lemon juice and the washing powder. Then we added the icing sugar. The last two ingredients were the baking soda and cordial. Finally we mixed all the ingredients together.

When our teacher allowed us to taste the mixture, it began to fizz in our mouth. This was because we mixed.

This was the best fizz experiment we had in the class.
