Chocolate Cupcakes 13/03/18

Today My class and I learnt how to make Chocolate Cupcakes. We collaborated with each other, 2 people on each table and straight away grabbed all the ingredients. We finally baked our Cupcakes and instantly begun to wash all the equipments we used, then waited patiently for our Chocolate Cupcakes. Finally it was time to take them out of the oven we placed all the Cupcakes onto the rack and quickly tasted it. One word to describe it would be "Delicious", because it was yum and chocolatey and it was like slowly mounting in My mouth. We finally topped it off with some Chocolaàte Syrup and made it more Delicious.  

Jump Start - Grammar Activities

This term for English our focus was on Grammar Activities. My given subject to present was Reflexive Pronouns. When I was given this subject to study, research and present on, I was extremely nervous at first when we were told to present it, but when I continued to study it and get to know it I tried my best to  be confident and just try my best. I didn't have a clue of what Reflexive pronoun was at first but I did loads of studying and I started to get to know the definition and how to define it. In this presentation there are definitions and examples of what Reflexive Pronouns is.

Today we have been learning about the water cycle. Water cycle is 

the cycle of processes which water circulates between the earth's oceans, atmosphere, and land, involving precipitation as rain and snow, drainage in streams and rivers, and return to the atmosphere by evaporation and transpiration. The water cycle is great to learn about and it has very interesting facts to read.

What I know about the weather T4

For this Term we have been learning about the weather. We have researched a lot of facts about the weather and different disasters, for example Tornadoes, Tsunamis, Floods and even more. We will be carrying on learning about different types of weathers for the whole term. It is very interesting and fun to learn about.

As I was walking to the bus stop back from my campout with my friends, I hopped into the bus to go back to my house, then suddenly I fell straight to sleep, the bus was still moving and people was still in there when I last checked, and  I knew it was going to be a long ride back home because it took a lot of stages when I was on my way to the campout.

Later on that night, I felt a little push, I instantly woke up because I thought I was back home, as I slowly opened my eyes I gazed everywhere with such a shock! I was in the middle of nowhere. I peered at a far distance and saw nothing at all just trees, but I was very exhausted so I just slept there overnight. In the morning I woke up and straight away went to find my way home, I was very anxious and very angry. I strolled up hills and down but I still didn’t know where I was.

I was lying in the burning hot sun, exhausted and feeling very depressed because I didn’t know what to do. I walked through the night exhausted and very angry, I felt weak and my body felt unusual, but I didn’t want to stop searching so I just kept myself moving. I was sweating and very tired and just noticed I ended up at the same place I was when I got thrown out so I just laid there boiling in the sun.

After the little nap I had I felt boosted and fired up as I stood up I thought for a while and decided to try and trace the buses wheels because here were marks on the road. I strolled with happiness and joy because I could notice the place I was at so I kept on following until I was sure, suddenly the marks were starting to fade, but luckily I knew where I was going I was strolling with Pleasure.

I walked past my friends house and walked pass the bus stop and noticed that the man in the bus was the same man that was in the bus I was in, he looked back at me and gave me a evil look, then I decided to not catch the bus and just walk off and as I carried on walking, the bus speed off and I just ignored it and kept on strolling.

Finally, at last I have reached the street my house was at, I was delighted with joy. I was very glad Everything was where It was expected and I was very happy.

The Haunted house 14/10/16

The haunted house

Staring out of the window terrified with fear, as the haunted house across the street was being swept up off the floor and was carried up in the air with four ropes tied around it. It was 5 O’clock in the morning, and it was raining cats and dogs. I felt sluggish and I didn’t want to move from where I was sitting. I was staring at the house being moved and demolished because it was there for probably 75 or 74 years and noone has ever wanted to move into that house.

It was 8 O’clock in the morning and the house was still high up in the air moving side to side because the strong wind. The wind was howling louder and louder like wolves on a full moon, the rain was pouring and was flooding this whole neighbourhood, and to make this day worse and more frightening the lightning struck, like a torch going on and off and the thunder rumbled like a giant man growling people.

I was sitting on the rocking chair in front of the window staring at the house being moved from its place. The second lighting struck and it was then when I saw the workers the were controlling the house running away from their position that they were at. The third lightning struck and standing at the windows of the terrifying haunted house was a little girl, I shut my curtains quickly and ran to my mum with such a shock and out of breathe.

Short out of breath, I stood in front of my mum explaining and telling her about what I saw, she slowly calmed me down with confusion and told me to inform her again. A few seconds later her daws were down with shockness. We rushed up the stairs and peeked out the window and suddenly gazed at the little girl, and unexpectedly she looked depressed and teardrops were running down her face, we were wondering why she was crying. At the house, we suddenly saw people gathering up and worried, we both knew what the problem was and decided to go and solve it so probably they won’t do anything to us.

Minutes went by and we were on our way out of the door dressed up in warm clothes and in a raincoat. We marched to the machine the was controlling the ropes that were lifting the house, but there was so many buttons in the corner of my eye i saw a big red button the had the word ‘’Land” I slowly pressed it and  finally it was making its land. We jumped with joy and pride. As the house was making its way down the family looked happy with relief. It was incredible.

As I took a bite out of this golden crust scrumptious piece of heaven, it was like a handful of sugary cream and apricot jam entering my mouth. I gazed at the slice of heaven and saw the apricot jam dripping down so I squeezed the yummy golden gooey jam into my mouth and it was drifting everywhere, then I had to swallow it. I crunched and munched the delightful golden crusty piece of heaven until It was almost gone, as I Gulped the last heavenly piece, I was craving for heaps more!!!

We are learning to solve Math Problems.

Solving word problems is a challenge for me because my comprehension skill is not very great. For Maths today I have been playing this game. This game is very helpful, because I have to use some of the strategies I know to solve division word problems. 1. It cost the Naidoo family of 2 adults and 3 children $61 to go to the zoo. What is the missing price on the board?

Answer: 14 x 2 = 28. 28 + 33 = 61. 33 divided by 3 = 11.

2. For 4 days of the week the zoo has a concession for schools. $10 each for the first 100 children and then $12 each for the others. What would a school pay if there are 127 children?

Answer: 10 x 100 =1000 10 x 27=270 2 x 27 =54 270 + 54= 324. 1000+324=1324

3. On a Friday evening  the zoo has a special rate for  school children:for every paid 7 children 2 get to go in free.  What would it cost a school with  147 children?

Answer: 147 divided by 9 = 16 r 3 

16 x 7 = 112

11 x 3 = 33

112 x 11 = 1232

1232 + 33 = $1265

These past few weeks we have been solving problems on a game called Speed skills.

Speed skills is a very enjoyable math game.  It helps you to master your number facts in Maths. I think this is a fun way to practise your number facts in addition, subtraction, division and multiplication.

We are learning about Geometry.

In the past few weeks of Term 4, Room 12 have been learning about Geometry. What is Geometry? Geometry is Shapes, there are different types of shapes like, Triangle, Cylinder, Square and rectangle. There are other names for some shapes, they're called'', 2D shapes and 3D shapes, 2D means 2 Dimensional and 3D means, 3 Dimensional.  There are lots of different types of shapes with different numbers of sides, corners and edges.

What is a 2D shape?

2D shapes are shapes that are flat, and you cannot see the full shape only the front.

What is a 3D shape?
3D shapes are shapes that you can see the whole shape, corners, sides and edges.

Place Values Addition & Subtraction

We are learning to add and subtract numbers using place value.

For this week and last week we have been learning how to workout Addition and Subtraction math problems using the place value chart. We are using up to six digits for our place value sums. I think working out the sums using the place value chart is probably the easiest way of working them out.

Division with Remainders

Today Group 2 and I played this game. This game is called Division With  Remainders, to play this  game you have to pick what level you want to be on Easy, Hard or Megahard, once you have picked one you will have to click on the white square box then they will give you a math question to answer, if you think you have got the right answer you then have to click check and it will tell you if you got the answer correct and if you get it wrong then it will say Too Low, Too High then they will give you a score.  WALT: Solve Multiplication and Division problems

This week I worked with my math group to solve Multiplication and Division problems, and some of the math problems were easy and some math problems were hard, but we just tried or best to think of the answer and work it out. For maths we had to find out how many rows and columns were there in the garden, the hard part was that we weren't allowed to count how many plants were there we had to just count the first row and the first column, and we had to work out a strategy to find out how many plants were there all together.
